Practical Occlusion

The Practical Occlusion workshop is a two-day hands-on small group workshop. In this workshop you will learn:

  • Basic anatomy of the tempromandibular joint (TMJ)
  • Muscle physiology of the TMJ
  • How to examine the TMJ and muscles of mastication
  • How to load test tempromandibular joint (TMJ)
  • How to differentiate between occluso-muscular pain and joint paint when load testing the TMJ
  • When it is safe to restore a patient’s mouth or change vertical dimension
  • How to fabricate accurate study casts
  • How to take a facebow; why and when it is important
  • How to take an accurate bite registration
  • Signs and symptoms of a pathologic occlusion
  • When to use centric relation
  • Mutually protected occlusion, what it means, why it's important and how to attain it
  • How to fabricate a bite appliance—full coverage vs. partial coverage
