The Practical Occlusion workshop is a two-day hands-on small group workshop. In this workshop you will learn:
- Basic anatomy of the tempromandibular joint (TMJ)
- Muscle physiology of the TMJ
- How to examine the TMJ and muscles of mastication
- How to load test tempromandibular joint (TMJ)
- How to differentiate between occluso-muscular pain and joint paint when load testing the TMJ
- When it is safe to restore a patient’s mouth or change vertical dimension
- How to fabricate accurate study casts
- How to take a facebow; why and when it is important
- How to take an accurate bite registration
- Signs and symptoms of a pathologic occlusion
- When to use centric relation
- Mutually protected occlusion, what it means, why it's important and how to attain it
- How to fabricate a bite appliance—full coverage vs. partial coverage
